Dates Announced for Cape Comic Con 2014!

Just as everyone was coming off the adrenaline rush that was Cape Con 2013, we are excited to announce the dates for Cape Comic Con 2014! The ninth annual Cape Con will take place March 21-23 and will again be held at the A.C. Brase Arena Building in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. As always, all of the latest information on next year's show can be found here, as well as on the Cape Con Facebook Page and Twitter.

Save the date and spread the word. Cape Comic Con 2014 is only slightly over 11 months away, and that's a lot closer than you might think. We'll see you there!

The dust has settled, and the 2013 Cape Comic Con has come and gone. It was our biggest year to date, and we'd like to thank everyone involved for another great convention. Whether you are an organizer, vendor, artist, gamer, special guest, cosplayer, comic lover, or even a regular who couldn't make it to this year's show, Cape Comic Con would not be possible without you. Everyone brings an incredible, contagious amount of energy and enthusiasm to the convention, and that helps drive us to put together the best show we possibly can every year.

Cape Comic Con will return in 2014! As soon as details for next year's show begin to trickle in, we'll post them here and on the Facebook page. Also, Cape Con now has a Twitter account, giving you another outlet for the latest Cape Con news and announcements.

Cosplay Panel Discussion Announced, Plus Gaming Schedule Updates

Premium cosplay designers Twisted World will be appearing at Cape Con and are co-hosting the costume party Saturday night! Twisted World will also be holding a panel discussion at 1:00 pm on Saturday. Here are the details:

The Twisted Cosplay Evolution

Twisted World takes a behind-the-scenes look at how cosplay has evolved from a hobby and a craft store into a highly specialized art. We will teach you how to work with a design studio to create the highest level of costuming and get the most out of your ideas, what happens when things don't go as planned, and how to price your services if you're the producer.

Additionally, a number of additional gaming events and details have been added to the Gaming Schedule.

Costume Party Details, Plus Two More Vendors Added

A few details on the Costume Party being held Saturday night have been announced. The party will be held at the 4H Building (just past the A.C. Brase Arena Building on Jaycee Dr.) from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am. The entry fee for the Costume Party is $10 and also includes Cape Con admission on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets must be purchased at Comic Con; no tickets will be sold at the door. If you already have a 1-day pass for either Saturday or Sunday, you can get into the Costume Party for just $5. Likewise, if you have a weekend Cape Con pass, you get FREE admission to the Costume Party.

Also, information on two more vendors, St. Louis Comics and Bigun's House of Games, has been added to the Vendors & Exhibitors page.

The gaming schedule for Cape Comic Con has also been posted. A link has been added to the top of the Schedule page that will take you to the gaming schedule, as well. Additional information may be added to the schedules as we get closer to the convention, so keep an eye out.

Cape Con is only 10 days away! As we enter the home stretch, information and updates are coming in hot and heavy. Here's what's new at cape-con.com:

• Most importantly, in case you missed it, Cape Con has had a change of venue. Cape Con will now be held at the A.C. Brase Arena Building in Cape Girardeau. If you are unfamiliar with the Arena Building, this handy map will help get you there. The Arena Building provides Cape Con with a second facility that will be used for the Jerry Lawler meet and greet, as well as the costume party.
• New information for artist Todd Tevlin has been added to the Vendors & Exhibitors page.
• The Gallery has been given a more visually pleasing appearance and now includes photos from Cape Con 2012.
• The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department has been acknowledged as a co-sponsor of Cape Comic Con. We greatly appreciate their support.

More updates will be coming within the next couple of days, including the full gaming schedule and more aesthetic improvements.

Don't miss a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend an evening with professional wrestling royalty. Cape Comic Con is proud to present WWE Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler Friday, April 19 from 8-10 p.m.! We will open the evening with a video presentation of highlights from his 35-plus year career. Jerry will entertain us with stories of his amazing career and you will have the chance to have your questions selected for our Q&A session. You will be able to get your picture taken with the King and have that photo personally autographed. Tickets are on sale now! Your exclusive badge to this event will be $30. You can also purchase additional badges for children 12 and under for just $10. As a bonus, the purchase of these badges will allow you to attend all 3 days of Cape Comic Con FREE!

You will be assigned a specific seat number with your badge. The first to purchase a badge will sit in the first row and will be first to get your picture taken with The King. Seating will be limited, so please don't delay in purchasing your badges. Also, please submit your questions for the Q&A to Ken Murphy, who will be moderating the event. If your question is chosen, you will be recognized at the Q&A session before the question is asked.

Jerry, who is also an accomplished artist, will be sketching and drawing at Cape Comic Con on Saturday, April 20.

Cape Comic Con is thrilled to announce our featured guests for 2013!

Jerry "The King" Lawler

Jerry Lawler is a WWE Hall of Famer, color commentator, former AWA World Heavyweight Champion, and an accomplished commercial artist. Lawler has been in the professional wrestling business since 1970 and is known for his infamous feud with comedian Andy Kaufman, which culminated in Lawler slapping Kaufman on Late Night with David Letterman in 1982. Lawler hails from Memphis, Tennessee.

Information on a great meet and greet opportunity with Jerry Lawler on Friday, April 19, will be available soon. Jerry will also be appearing at Cape Con on Saturday!

Jeremy Haun

Jeremy Haun is a freelance comic book artist and the self-proclaimed "285th most popular artist working in comics today!" Jeremy is known for his work on Detective Comics, CIVIL WAR: Iron Man/Captain America, Arkham Reborn, Berserker, Leading Man, and Battle Hymn. Jeremy has worked for Image Comics, ONI Press, IDW, Devils Due Publishing, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and Wildstorm.

Cape Comic Con is officially opening vendor and artist booth reservations for 2013! And, for the first time ever, you can register online using our new Booth Registration Application Form, which includes online payment via PayPal using either a PayPal account or credit card. Or, if you'd like to go the more traditional route, you can still contact Ken Murphy directly to register.

Since this is our first time using an online registration option, there may be some bugs or complications that have gone unaccounted for. If you encounter any issues during registration, please send an email to Brian and he'll try to get it worked out.

Comic Geeks and Pix Posters to Appear at Cape Comic Con!

Cape Comic Con is proud to announce Comic Geeks and Pix Posters will be joining us in 2013!

Comic Geeks is a new web series based and shot in St. Louis! The story follows three friends at various stages of comic geekery: Dan, the die-hard weekly shopper, Jeff, the indie-only cartoonist, and Brian, who struggles with reading comics and acting like an adult. Together, the three try to figure out what makes a comic geek, and how to be an adult doing it.

Comic Geeks can be found on the web and on Facebook!

Pix Posters sells original and reproduction movie posters, as well as comic posters. Pix Posters has appeared at hundreds of comic shows all over the country and carries over 800 different posters!
